November 2023 Pastor’s Note

In 1978, a young seminary graduate named Henry Smith was struggling to find work and coming to terms with a degenerative eye condition that would eventually leave him legally blind. Despite those hardships, Henry found hope in 2 Corinthians 8:9 and penned “Give Thanks,” one of the most beloved songs of our time.

“And now let the weak say, ‘I am strong’; Let the poor say, ‘I am rich’ because of what the Lord has done. Give thanks with a grateful heart, Give thanks to the Holy One, Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son.”

We have so much to be thankful for every day of our lives. Even when we face seemingly impossible situations, we have a loving Lord who is by our side. A quote in The Red Seas Rules by Robert J. Morgan said,

“We have a God who begins with the impossible and goes on from there.”

We begin to see life in a new way when we realize how powerful and loving our God is. He turns life upside down, in a positive way. Let the weak say I am strong, let the poor say I am rich... And all of this is possible because of what the Lord has done for us. Give thanks!

I praise Jesus for what He has done in the life of my family and the way He continues to work each day in us. I praise Jesus for the church family He has blessed me with. I cannot tell you all how thankful I am for each of you. It is a blessing to serve as your pastor. I pray that each of you will have a very Happy Thanksgiving and that you give thanks to the One deserving all praise and glory, Jesus Christ!

Serving Together, Pastor Jeff
