January 2023 Pastor’s Note

by Bro. Jeff Grimes

Happy New Year!

Let me first thank each and every one of you for your faithfulness to the Lord and your dedication to serving Him at Calvary Baptist Church in 2022. As we move into 2023, I pray your New Year’s promise to the Lord is to rediscover the Word of God and let it bring revival to your heart.

Some see the Bible as God’s love letter to us or perhaps a handbook for life and they are right! The truth is it is both of these things and so much more. The Bible is the revelation of God to us. The Scripture is God’s Word to each of us. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 tells us,

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

The Scripture gives us the opportunity to see and know God. It reveals His character and nature, His sovereignty and power, His reason for creating us, and His plan for us. God’s Word has the power to cleanse us, sanctify us, and make us holy. His Word gives us the power to defeat sin and bring us into spiritual obedience with God.

Let the Word of God be a lamp unto your feet and a light to your path. Reconnect and recommit to the Word of the Lord in this New Year.

On a personal note. Thank you for a wonderful year at Calvary. I am blessed to be your pastor! I see God working in so many of you each and every day. I am truly thankful for your support, encouragement, and most of all your prayers. I am glad to be a

part of the family of God and I am blessed to be part of the family at Calvary Baptist Church.

God bless each of you in the New Year! Pastor Jeff
